Saturday, June 27, 2015

FAIRFAX, Va. - Coming off their first win of the season, the Braddock Road Stars Elite will face the Dayton Dutch Lions for the third time on Sunday. While the first two matches against Dayton took place in Dutch Lions territory, Sunday's match will be on Braddock Road’s turf at Coffey Stadium at 2 p.m.

The first match against the Cobras ended in a 1-0 loss for the Stars Elite with a goal from Meghan Blank in the 87th minute, while the second match ended in a 5-2 loss for the Stars Elite the following day.

Forward Olivia Fiegel put both goals on the board for the Stars Elite in the second game against the Cobras. The previous matches against the Dutch Lions were the first two matches of the season for the Stars Elite. Since then, the Stars Elite have earned their first win of the season with goals from defender Kaleigh Riehl (penalty kick), and forward Chris Meyers.

Three of the five goals for the Dutch Lions stemmed from forward Ode Fulutudilu, with the other two from midfielder Micaela Powers. Fulutudilu is the Dutch Lions' current leading goal scorer with four goals this season. Powers is tied for second with three of her teammates producing two goals each in the 2015 W-League season.

The Dutch Lions will face the Stars Elite after coming off 5-1 and 3-0 losses against the Washington Spirit Reserves on June 25 and 26. After more than a month since last meeting the Dutch Lions, the Stars Elite look to earn their second win of the season and first win against Dayton.
