BRYC Elite Academy Families,

By now, I’m sure you have seen the yesterday’s order from Governor Northram regarding the tightening of certain temporary restrictions in the state of Virginia due to Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).  These restrictions pertain to spectators, not participants, at events as you see from the excerpt (Exec Order 67 - Phase 3 Further Adjusting of Certain Temporary Restrictions due to Novel Coronavirus 19)  below.

13. Recreational Sports

Indoor and outdoor recreational sports activities are permitted, provided participants and organizers of recreational sports activities comply with the following requirements:

a.  The total number of spectators cannot exceed the lesser of 30% of the occupancy load of the certificate of occupancy for the venue, if applicable, or 25 spectators per field.  Races or marathons may have up to 250 participants, provided staggered starts separate runners into groups of 25 or less.

b.  Conduct screening of coaches, officials, staff and players for COVID-19 symptoms prior to admission to the venue/facility.

What does this mean to our program?

From the player and coach’s perspective, there is NO impact.  We will continue observing our current RTP and RTC protocols with heightened awareness and enforcement.

The impact will be felt from the spectator's perspective.  As we have with all decisions during these unprecedented times, the club will continue to err on the side of caution.  Rather than take on the impossible task of determining which spectators can attend events, we are simply going to enforce a policy (EFFECTIVE MONDAY, NOVEMBER 16TH) of  "no spectators will be allowed at events on BRYC ELITE ACADEMY VENUES" during this temporary order.  We also ask that you abide by any and all rules in place at NON-BRYC Elite Academy venues.

We recognize this may cause some heartburn, but we are working on a process to live-stream matches.  This initiative is one that we had already begun to investigate; this temporary order simply accelerates that process.

The good news is that this order comes at a time when our event schedule is winding down.  We will continue to monitor the situation and keep you updated of any changes.  If we continue to observe the protocols and policies in place, we are optimistic we can produce a solution that would enable spectators to observe live action.

We thank you for your continued patience and cooperation during this time, but as always, our first concern is the safety and well-being of our community and BRYC Elite families.

Regards,

BRYC Executive Committee
